Vaccinations for dogs – these vaccinations will protect your dog from distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, and leptospirosis, with an addition vaccine also available to protect your dog from kennel cough.

The vaccinations for dogs are available from the age of 8 weeks of age, which is then followed by a second vaccine at the age of 12 weeks. If it is the case that your puppy has already received their first vaccination from another veterinary practice, this is not a problem. If you bring your puppy’s vaccination certificate to the surgery with you, the vet can provide advice on making the best decisions going forward with the next vaccinations.

Vaccinations for cats – these include protection against cat “flu” or feline upper respiratory tract disease, infectious enteritis, feline leukaemia, chlamydia felis, and rabies.
Vaccinations for cats are available from the age of 10 weeks, with the second part of the vaccine give three weeks later. It is important that your cat is not taken outside or in contact with other cats until after their vaccinations have taken effect. This will protect them against serious and potentially fatal diseases.

Prior to receiving any vaccinations, your pet will receive a full health check which includes examination of the ears, eyes, teeth, nails, as well as checking the heart, lungs, mobility, and weight. During this time, it is a perfect opportunity for you to mention any changes in behaviour that you have noticed in your pet as well as any other concerns that you might have. The vet will be happy to answer any queries that you have regarding the vaccinations, and they will suggest the appropriate worm and flea treatments depending on your pets’ requirements.
